42 Studios is proud to partner with MAGNET Galleries to present FLY ME TO THE MOON,
a solo exhibition by Melbourne-based visual artist, musician and music-colour synesthete
Tracey Roberts.
The collection forms part of the Lunar Codex — an international cultural archive led by Canadian physicist and author Dr Samuel Peralta, which sends contemporary creative works to the lunar surface as a record of human creativity during a time of global crisis.
The exhibition opens 10 July, 2026 and will run until 2 August, 2026 at MAGNET Galleries, Docklands.
The Lunar Codex is an archive of cultural works from across the globe, launched via NASA Artemis / Commercial Lunar Payload Service program partners from Earth to space, the Moon, and beyond. The not-for-profit project charges no fees to artists or institutions, and is curated by a circle of professional gallerists, prize jurors, poets laureate, editors, and publishers, coordinated by Incandence chairman Dr. Samuel Peralta.

The archival missions of the Lunar Codex are part of the most significant placement of contemporary art on the Moon in over fifty years, and one of the most significant collaborative artistic endeavours of a united humanity.
Rather than transporting original artworks, the Lunar Codex uses advanced archival technology known as NanoFiche®.
Developed specifically for long-term preservation, NanoFiche is a nickel-based analogue storage medium capable of storing thousands of pages of information at microscopic scale. Images and text are etched directly into the metal using high-resolution lithographic techniques, creating an archive that can be read with magnification alone and requires no electricity, software, operating system or digital file format to access.
Designed to withstand the harsh conditions of space, NanoFiche is resistant to radiation, electromagnetic interference, extreme temperatures and the technological obsolescence that can render digital storage unreadable over time.
The technology allows vast collections of cultural works to be condensed into remarkably small physical archives. A single NanoFiche archive can contain tens of thousands of pages of artwork, photographs, manuscripts and other cultural records, all preserved within a durable metal plate measuring only a few centimetres across.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Tracey Roberts is a Melbourne-based visual artist, musician, illustrator and graphic designer whose work explores the relationship between sound, colour, memory and emotion.
Roberts holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Melbourne and studied Performing Arts Management in Amsterdam, giving her practice a distinctive foundation across science, technology, music and creative production.
Her long-running body of musically themed work, inspired by her music-colour synesthesia, has been exhibited across Victoria since 2007, including at The Brunswick Street Gallery, The Burrinja Gallery,The UP Gallery, Gasworks and various prestigious music festivals (Maldon and the National Celtic Festival) and other regional cultural spaces.

Through her rare neurological experience of music-colour synesthesia, Roberts creates richly layered visual compositions that offer audiences a glimpse of how sound can be perceived beyond hearing.
